Our last poll topic was your favorite guests to your backyard feeders. The woodpecker edged out the bluebirds and cardinals - but it was very close.
This shot is a male Red-Bellied Woodpecker from Susan's garden in Sharpsburg.

Wonderful picture, I notice you have your suet block by a tree, I have mine on my pole system and have had no birds use it. I have tried two different kind of blocks, that did not seem to help. Any suggestions?

My birds love the insect suet - not the insect year round that the squirrels eat before the birds can get to it. The squirrels don't seem to care for the white suet stuff so I can hang it in the tree and the birds feel welcome to enjoy it there. Actually, they fight over it. Keep trying - the woodpeckers will reward your perserverance.
Lovely shot!

Thank you! I love that bird too. I now have his family growing up in my back yard!
