Dog Next Door to the Rescue

If I'm not mistaken, the furball in the chickadee's mouth is from the husky next door.  Resourceful little guys, aren't they.  In my reading about my new feathered neighbors, I learned that both chickadees build the nest, both incubate the eggs, and both feed the babies.  Chickadees are my kind of birds.  Contrast this to the hummingbird - where the female builds the nest, incubates the eggs, and feeds the young.  Poor girl!

When I combed my dog, I let the hair blow around outside for the birds. The chickadee used it in their nest. I have a small house that the chickadees have built a nest in. I can see inside, they used all kinds of materials to fill the house and made a real small cavity in the back where they are setting. One day I watched them work so hard to get some bark(skin) off the Crape Myrtal bush to use for their nest. They are such a fun bird to watch.

Yes, I'm loving having them right outside my sunroom. They worked so hard all day yesterday. So good of you to share your dog hair...
